Fixed lines are provided by the national telecommunication company
Sudatel. It also offers fax, Internet and DSL services. For more

Wireless Services
Canar is a provider of communications services established in April
2005. Canar uses telecommunication technologies such as Next
Generation Network and Wireless Loop. Their products and services
include voice, data, Internet and multi media services. For more

Mobile Telephone Services
There are currently two mobile telephone providers, Mobitel and
Areeba, offering a range of services like caller identification,
call divert, fax, Internet and roaming. User can choose between
subscription and pre-paid cards.

Mobitel Credit Transfer
Use your handsets to transfer balance to another Mobitel numbers
using the short code (200) as shown below:
*200*last four digits of your sim card*amount to be transferred in
SDD*phone number receiver* phone number receiver # SEND
For example:
*200*1234*100*0912345678*0912345678# SEND
SIM card serial number: 89249 xxxxx xxxxx 1234
The receiver’s number: 091 23 45678
The amount required: 100 SD
The receiver will receive a message with the time, date, amount
transferred, new balance and sender’s mobile number.
Internet Cafes
There are many Internet cafes in Khartoum, offering Internet
services, photocopying and printing. The fees are around 300 SDD/hour
and printing costs around 50 SD per sheet.
Opening a PO Box
For people staying a long time in Khartoum it is advisable to open a
PO Box. Though the postal system is erratic it is quite safe. A PO
Box can be opened at the main Post Office (Jamma Avenue, Khartoum,
tel: (0)183770183).
Satellite Television
Those who don’t want to miss their favourite television programs
have to invest in a satellite television service. One of the
providers is Orbit offering a wide range of channels (Orbit
