Basketball

The basketball association headquarters is home to the national team. At the centre you can watch televised games and join practice sessions for men, women and children. The location is Talat Fareed Sports Complex opposite the Greek Club, Khartoum 2.

Boxing
 

The Khartoum boxers train every Monday and Wednesday at around 4:30pm. You can join them training or watch out for the tournaments that are held regularly at the same venue. The location is Talat Fareed Sports Complex opposite the Greek Club, Khartoum 2.

Football

Sudan has a very popular national football team, which regularly plays abroad. There are also many smaller teams playing in various leagues and are cheap to attend and fun to watch.

Horse Racing

Horseracing is a very popular pass time in Sudan. The race course is easily accessible (behind Souk Al Shabbi). The races are held every Friday afternoon. The highlight of the racing calendar is the national derby, which takes place in June.

National Football League

This league includes football teams from all major cities in Sudan. These teams play regularly from March to December. The games take place in every major town or city depending on the fixture.

Nuban wrestling

The Nubian community holds their traditional wrestling tournament in Souk Sitta, in Haj Youssif district, on Fridays and Public holidays. This colorful and often fierce sport is a must see for tourists.

Polo

If you fancy watching the sport of kings, go to the racecourse around 5:30pm on Saturdays and Wednesdays.

Premiership

There are several teams from Khartoum that play in the premiership. They play in Khartoum’s two major stadiums, downtown Khartoum and Omdurman. The football season runs from February to July, then September to December. The games are usually played on a Saturday or a Monday at 7:00pm.

Sailing

Between November and April The Sailing Club hosts regular regattas and sailing competitions on the Nile. These events take place on Sundays and Wednesdays at 4:30pm and on Fridays at 9:30am.

Show jumping

Training is at the Equestrian Centre behind the Horseracing stadium on Mondays and Thursdays at 5pm. Competitions are held throughout the year at the same venue on most public holidays between October and July.

Volleyball

The volleyball season falls between February and November, and most games take place opposite Delicious in Amarat. If you are a volleyball fan there is plenty of action, as each division plays twice a week during the season. The games are free to attend.
